CLASSES

PRIMARY BALLET | Age 4

Introduces the young dancer to basic elements of ballet, explores space and how we relate to it, both

as an individual and as a member of a group; basic locomotor skills; musical rhythm, beat and time;

opposites and directions. Ballet classroom etiquette, taking turns, following, leading, waiting patiently and

quietly.

 

PRE-BALLET | Ages 5-6

Class introduces basic ballet vocabulary and movement skills, agility, coordination while building a

foundation for future progression in the study of ballet. Ballet classroom etiquette, taking turns, following,

leading, waiting patiently and quietly but yet allowing freedom for fun and movement.

 

BALLET 1 | Ages 6-8 

Strong curriculum-based ballet technique including ballet vocabulary, basic barre and center work to

facilitate the fundamentals of turnout, proper technique, development of strength, agility and rhythm.

 

BALLET 2 | Ages 6-11

This class continues to provide a more detailed level of classical a curriculum-based syllabus utilizing ballet

vocabulary, barre, center. Working to build strength, agility, rhythm, and facilitating the body memory of

movement.

 

BALLET 3 | Ages 7-14

This class provides a more detailed level of classical ballet supported by a proven curriculum-based

syllabus to facilitate technique, using realistic criticism, instruction by careful and thoughtful analysis. Its

goal is to enhance the detailed perfection of the kinetic motion of classical ballet and develop more fully

its communicable style as a visual medium.

 

BALLET 4/5 | Ages 11–18

B4 | 5 hrs per week

B5 | 9 hrs per week

A higher level of classical ballet supported by the building of technique through the detailed use of a

strong curriculum-based syllabus, realistic criticism, instruction by analysis. Utilizing the use of specific

cross-training exercises as well. To enhance the detailed perfection of the kinetic motion of classical ballet

and develop more fully its communicable style as a visual medium. The course will provide the dancer

with intense ballet technique. Barre work will contain all the basic elements of ballet technique to build

balance, strength of line and muscles, quickness of mind/body, musicality, and quality of movement.

Center work will continue to build upon the emotional expression, strength, technique, and execution of

line. Across the floor and ménage movement will continue to build on the mastery of the more grandeur

movements of classical ballet.

 

POINTE | By invitation only

PP & P1 | 1 hr

P2 | 3 hrs

Students who are on pointe must take all required technique ballet classes within their levels. Readiness

for pointe work is determined by each student’s strength and physical development, not by their age. The

instructor will advise parents when a student has the necessary strength and maturity to go on pointe.

 

PARTNERING | By invitation only | 1 hr per week

 

ADULT TAP (beginning and intermediate) 60min

This tap class will provide the basics of tap, developing our rhythm and familiarity with basic steps.

Combinations will repeat week-to-week to give new tappers plenty of practice. Come celebrate making

music with our feet! Wear athletic clothes and pull your hair back if it will get in your face. Tap shoes

encouraged, jazz shoes, character shoes, or socks accepted.

 

MODERN TECHNIQUE | B4/5 only & must be taking ballet technique | 1 hr per week

Horton Technique is one of the classic forms of American dance, a codified series of movements which

emphasizes a whole body, anatomical approach. Its focus on flexibility, coordination, and precision lends it

well to dramatic expression and performance. Horton Technique is frequently implemented in jazz classes,

and the discipline it develops crosses over into ballet and contemporary dance as well.
